I can't pass up a chance to mention this ecological-themed doom/sludge band Froglord: https://open.spotify.com/album/7hpoBlUnLnjvEY0zIlBc6s

This is actually the real problem, which makes me feel like the memes are justified. They really didn't start showing up til the C&D anyway (AFAIK).

I'm a feminist and left-leaning guy, I'm certainly not gonna go after her for being a woman or for her "politics"* - or appreciate jokes that seek to do so, as people are trying to imply in this case. But trying to avoid the deserved scrutiny of hiding her flight plans is pretty shitty and it's fair to razz her for it

(* "go vote" is so barely politics it's not worth truly acknowledging it as such)

A single drive of that size goes for less than $100 USD (sometimes much less!). It'd actually be more economical to get an 8TB device for less than 2x the price. I'd suspect most folks in this community have far more than 3TB available...

What's the point of a reboot in a time travel series, especially if it includes the some of the same cast (presumably playing their same characters)? Just pick different characters that fit into the established events/lore. Genisys is probably the closest thing we have to a reboot, with new actors playing established roles.

Hell, Dark Fate practically was this reboot already, replacing Skynet with Legion and all that. And yet Hamilton did sign on for that one.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she did and sometimes it feels like I'm part of a very small club who enjoyed that movie. But the delineation of what she would (did) sign on for, vs wouldn't is very unclear to me, and describing that difference as a "reboot" I find overall nonsensical given the franchise's premise and history.

You're right. There's a big difference between choices she makes now, and choices she made before Dark Fate existed. And many of them are probably irrelevant to the final product that the audience experiences.

I'll also add that personally I think her character has been exceptionally curated (barring early cancelation of TSSC) over the years and nearly any movie could have been a good sendoff for the character - and importantly Linda Hamilton has been an exceptional talent in bringing the character to life. So no matter what, my criticism as a fan comes from a place of enjoyment, and more important: her opinion on the matter is infinitely more valuable than mine.

If he did that in his first term I might consider voting for him later this year

Maybe an entire feature that disables it so you can't do it accidentally, call it "termination protection" or something

I think lemmy.world is getting so big as to be threatened by copyright takedown, etc and they have a policy of "don't post the whole article"

Unfortunately for them (and the owners of the article) you're not a part of lemmy.world and they can all go fuck themselves. Keep fighting the good fight. (you might get banned/blocked though, fyi)

Equating "Hollywood elites" with "nasty commies" is fucking hilarious. Every time I read about this woman I have to remind myself it's not satire.

I know reality is off the rails and makes satirisits' jobs hard, but sometimes the Onion proves that they still got it and they are at the top of their game.

Edit: it's not the onion I guess. My bad. Saw the comm icon and thought it was the favicon for the link.

Stuff like this is a great reminder about the power of Open Source. Even if it's inconvenient for the downstream user(/admin/etc), it contributes to strengthening software as a whole

That's not quite the case actually, the image builder doesn't have to update the latest tag, but that's the usual default configuration since it's easier for out-of-the-box usage such as newbies, demos, etc.

I can see both points of view and am not sure which side I find more compelling.

On one hand, it makes sense to have a weekly post about new movies, and a dedicated post for each movie when it comes out. IMO those were healthy features of the subreddit.

On the other hand, you're right that the size of the community doesn't warrant much in the way of structure and demanding it of our lone moderator is not fair to them (you).

I'm glad the conversation is happening though.

I don't have a full ranking personally, and I there's some I haven't seen, but the first thing that popped into my head when reading the question was quantum of solace

I had a realization recently. These things are like the reverse of the mythical Cassandra: no one can ever be sure that their information is correct, but everyone trusts what they say.

Seems like it would be a great gag in a Naked Gun movie (or similar)

RANT : The thing i miss from reddit is that when a series or movie came out or ended there would be a big discussion threads.

And you could ask for a spoiler free review of an old movie or series or questions about it . Here eveeything like that gets downvoated to hell , doesn't exist or doesn't get much reach . I do wish we could intime have things like that .

10 movies for 40? And they're confirmed good?* Most moviegoers would consider that a deal.

    * well, depends how much value you place on the opinion of "the academy", but it's not a crapshoot

    Fuuuck they got me.

I'd never sing karoake, but there are somehow multiple videos out there of me singing karoake. It's really a mystery of how that happened, according to my memory...

Also, I wish I could blame AI.
