Square Enix's producers are an asset, not a problem, former senior exec says (www.axios.com)

Final Fantasy maker Square Enix is right to bring more of its games to Microsoft's Xbox and keep taking risks on new games, a former senior executive at the company tells Axios. However, he said it should not heed critics who say the company is too dependent on star game producers.

Oh, I’m looking forward to finally getting to play the DLC! I have the game on PS4, not never bothered to get a 5 because I switched to PC gaming before they were easily available where I live, and now I don’t want one any more.

I’ll wait until it goes on sale, though, since I already paid full price once.

Association of Internet Researchers Moving to Mastodon (aoir.org)

In October 2022, Elon Musk completed his acquisition of Twitter. Almost a year later and we have witnessed the gutting of the content moderation department, a huge increase in hate speech, and in real terms the end to API-based researcher access to data. Twitter (or ‘X’) isn’t just unfriendly but actually unsafe for many...

These are the kinds of games I love, so it’s is a win as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully they’ll start porting their games to PC faster.

Woman propped up to look alive for family after already being declared dead at Adena Hospital, records show (sciotovalleyguardian.com)

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A recent incident at Adena Health System has intensified scrutiny of its cardiology department. A 65-year-old woman died during what should have been a routine heart catheterization, leading to pressing questions about the practices and credentials of the physicians involved. What happened after her time of...

I just hope they can bring the weight down in the next version. It’s a little too heavy for me to use, and I was so sad when I realized it.

I have a genetic disorder that causes my tendons and ligaments to be weak, so I get sprains and dislocations easily. I’ve sprained a finger pushing an elevator button before, and dislocated a knee standing up and taking a step. My hands are so stupid weak I couldn’t even get a Switch, I had to get a Switch Lite. I can’t use Xbox controllers because the D-pad and left stick being switched caused me to accidentally dislocate my thumb once.

The Steam Deck is just slightly too heavy for me to hold for long, because you carry some of the weight on your middle fingers when you’re holding it. When I was trying it, a middle finger joint started to go out of place.

The ergonomics of the Steam Deck were great; so I was so upset when I felt my finger starting to give. I had only played for about 10, 15 minutes before I started having problems, and I had to tape my finger after I got home from trying it.

I’m a rare case, I know, but usually new versions of electronics tend to be slimmer and lighter, so I’m hopeful.

Yeah, but that’s not going to be very easy to do on the train, or laying down in bed, and having to carry around a controller kills a lot of the portability, which would be the whole point of a Stream Deck for me. And if I’m going to play at home, I’ve already got a gaming PC.

It had positive reviews on release because they wouldn’t give console copies to reviewers, and professional reviewers tended to have the beefy gaming rigs that could play it well.

These all sounds like really good changes. I’m excited about them finally revamping search, because a lot of folks never really adopted using hashtags.

Yeah? Even ignoring how the results of this will determine how companies try this is the future (because they WILL), this shit is like classical Greek drama, watching someone fall because of their hubris.

They made an offer like 20 years ago and got laughed out of the room.

A lot of the planned release dates got pushed back a year or two because of covid, so add a year to each date to get closer to when things are probably going to actually come out, I reckon.

I haven’t heard about any plans for PS5 Pro, but all that leaks have said what’s coming out is more like a Slim, since it’s going to be smaller, and not have a built-in disk drive. We’ll see, tho.

A big problem a lot of mods had on Reddit, and why they basically needed 3rd party apps - was that moderation tools weren’t up to snuff. So I don’t quite understand why getting good, robust moderation tools isn’t a top priority for the lemmy devs.
