I will spend hours and hours playing against expert bots until I can consistently be at the top of the leader board. Then I be ready to play against humans and rank at the bottom.
I have been playing CS since 1.6 and every time a I take a break I have to start all over again.
I have an old Linksys router which I have read is quite "hackable" for setting up a VPN with custom Linux firmware (tomato, etc.). Everything I have looked up on it, however, seems to be about creating a VPN so that you can access the internet from anywhere in the world, but utilizing your home IP address....

I absolutely hate “smart” TVs! You can’t even buy a quality “dumb” panel anymore. I can’t convince the rest of my family and friends that the only things those smarts bring are built-in obsolescence, ads, and privacy issues....
While true, the context of this discussion was mostly about privacy rather than functionality. Builtin Chromcast vs external changes nothing on that front. There is also nothing that would prevent you from plugging in that fancy new external Chromecast to the old Sony and getting new functionality from it if the display is still to your liking.
The speed can fluctuate as users pop on and off a server, but in general I have gotten excellent speeds (100mbps+). If ever I am getting poor throughput I swap to a different random server until I get what I need. I do not torrent with it though so I am not sure how it fares with that use.
I have been using PIA for years and I was thinking of switching to Protons VPN (as well as storage, email and password manager) and I was wondering what everyone else thought of it. Is it as stable and useful as PIA?...
Since you are looking to play single player you might also want to check out Minetest with the Mineclone2 addon installed. It is not identical, but it is an amazing substitute and free.
Interplay…feel like I am in the Wayback Machine. I worked there for a few years at the time of Carmageddon, Fallout1/2, Descent, and some other classics. A lifetime ago.
I still have my Vault13 flask from Fallout2. Sad that I can not really use it anymore though as the printing is very fragile now.
I have argued with otherwise intelligent people who sound exactly like the person above. It is a strange contrarian mentality with no basis in the science as they claim. I once even took up the challenge from someone who said I was afraid to investigate the “other side”. I read every single thing he sent me and they were all rubbish. Not a one of them even support the claims he made. When I responded saying this just fired back that I was brain-washed or carrying water for commies or other such inanities. It became clear after a while that he did not even understand the basics of the greenhouse effect or how CO2 and other gasses cause it. I was utterly flabbergasted.
long story short : the person above may have the degrees they claim but they are not educated on this subject. It is so simple even a layman can understand it so they have no excuse.
My employer has thankfully taken the opposite approach. They decided that the only people who had to return to the office were those who needed to interact with directly humans or physical objects. Anyone who could do their job from home was free to do so. My boss said he was happy that employees could live where they wanted instead of within an hour of one of the offices. I took him at his word and moved from California to British Columbia.
Faced with new legislation, Iowa’s Mason City Community School District asked ChatGPT if certain books ‘contain a description or depiction of a sex act.’
What made Place special was the rarity. It created a sort of internet time capsule of what was popular or in the collective mind at that point in time. If you wanted to get what was important to you on the board then you had to act with purpose RIGHT NOW because it would be over and gone in a couple of days. Even with all the effort put in it would be erased at the end. Just Dust in the Wind.
I pulled an antique Apple2][ clone (Franklin 2100) out of storage the other day along with some old floppy disks. I was shocked when it fired right up and could still read my homework project from 1990. So while it is possible to recover old data off of ancient media, it is highly impractical to keep the required hardware in working order forever.

Steam works. Spotify works. These things are worth paying for because they make my life easier. When Netflix was the only game in town and had content from everywhere it was a fantastic service. Then every studio decided that they wanted all that money for themselves and started their own service. Since that time it is nothing but fragmentation, degraded service and confusion. Streaming Video seems to be in a race to oblivion.
Ideally one that can use more than one disk so that i can expand it later when i can. Have some minimal experience with Synology since there's one at work and i have interacted with it a couple times and like the interface, but am not married to any brand as long as it works....
A year ago I bought an Adjustor AS3304t to replace my xpenology frankenas. I have been pretty happy with it as a NAS, but it is not as good as a Synology. Still out was pretty inexpensive and work well for is primary purpose.
