Graphene OS on Pixel 6a?

Has anyone used it? What was your experience with install/performance? I’m thinking of getting one because it has decent specs for $250. I don’t need banking apps or anything like that, and the only social media app I need is snapchat (I know that sort of defeats the purpose, but I just want better privacy, not perfect).

lunicoDee ,

Installation went smooth like butter, the experience isn’t any different than normal android and it also runs we’ll proprietary apps, but I wouldn’t run the on your owner profile

lunicoDee ,

You don’t go to jail (if there isn’t evidence of you selling it) in my country. Because it’s not a penal crime, but an administrative one.

lunicoDee ,

It’s because you install another OS on it

I wish there was something like based.cooking but for news, but the fact is that giournalism is biased in general, so I still would have to look for other sources

lunicoDee ,

use multiple sources then you’ll get close to the truth

Retro quick access on GrapheneOS??? (lemmy.ml)

Yo how’d our hommie sideofburritos get old school quick access on GrapheneOS? Is this just an old version? The video’s only a year old! So I’m on GOS Android 13 (aka big dumb quick access button purgatory), totally confused and totally jealous. I can only imagine an out of touch board testing a new android version and...

I had to sacrifice some features for privacy and security, that’s one of them, amen

Phones certainly decrease our level of motivation by decreasing our dopamine baseline. Huberman Labs episodes addressing dopamine are really interesting

lunicoDee ,

Hope they’re encrypted/hashed at least

But they run unnecessary JavaScript Frameworks just for a page which redirects you to the download.

Selfhost your VPN!

lunicoDee ,

Don’t get scroogled

lunicoDee ,

That’s a fact. But, in the first place, VPNs weren’t invented for privacy.

lunicoDee ,

It also depens on what informations the host has about you. Bare minimum is the IP, but it isn’t really an identification

lunicoDee ,

You could install OpenSUSE in the partition that had zorin, overwriting the previous system.

I will stop using Linux / PC for 10 months. What do you think will happen in that period?

Long story short, this year is my exam preparation year and due to my nature I will take extreme measures to prevent distraction and focus on studying. I will decommision my PC, stop browsing Linux & tech related websites and leave this beautiful place called Lemmy. To make things clear, I am not influenced by anyone for doing...

Those are not private at all, whatsapp, as a protocol (so basically xmpp) is pretty good using E2E. Facebook/Meta collects your metadata, but not the messages.

Soon they’ll be bribing the govt to make going outside illegal.

Pixel users, do you have any problems with your phone fragility?

A friend of mine bought several google pixels and, the firts time they slipped from her pocket, their screen completely broke, even if they had a cover and a screen protector, and this happened with three models. So, how’s your experience and how I can prevent my pixels from breaking? Thanks for the eventual responses, and...
