Fedora over Ubuntu. Ubuntu nowdays seems lost it’s soul…

Fedora and Gnome workstation is the best ootb Distro I ever hold.

Also Fedora Xfce spins ovrr Linuxmint or Xubuntu. They are first class, stable, and bleeding edge.

    But I’m using xfce here… :‘) and It doesn’t even get some funds :’(

    Wayland on XFCE is still farr farrrrrr :')

    Linux way way slower than Windows?

    So I jumped ship from Windows to Kubuntu last night, and It’s mostly been pretty good. However my general performance of the computer has been abysmal. Like it takes upwards of 5 seconds to open anything. All of my hardware seems to be running at max speeds, so I have no idea why it would be so sluggish? It’s as if I’m...

    It doesn’t have any ability to change to S3. I already tried all on that page, include suspend freeze

    it’s mem and other, I forgot, but it’s normal I think.

    I had a dream about windows and have decided to setup Linux on my laptop. What distro should I use?

    I used Ubuntu once a few years ago but had compatability issues so I went back to windows. Not a great programmer but I’d like to learn. I’m not looking to do much gaming beyond DOOM2 and factorio. Mostly looking for privacy and a way to get back into programming (I have this pipe dream of learning Assembly). I’m not to...

    Fedora is great with gnome for beginer and don’t get in way to much like Ubuntu when used daily

    There are Fedora with KDE and it’s much more bleeding edge than any other distro.

    Developing in C# in Corporate, so C# debugger only works on VS Code sadly

    Work on codium? I only know to reverse the dll using ilspy

    garam ,
    @garam@lemmy.my.id avatar

    But the debugger will work and show the break point and the code right like in vs code or normal vs?

    garam ,
    @garam@lemmy.my.id avatar

    I’m developing Dotnet on Linux. 70-90% of corporate that I work with use C# on RHEL or Fedora.

    That’s why I don’t use VS on Windows. I do think about other like sharpdevelop but it’s not for me thom😭

    you confuse canonical with fedora or rhel standard… which… is sad… but at least flatpak is the savior in the end. haha…

    Is there even Firefox deb for Ubuntu now?

    garam ,
    @garam@lemmy.my.id avatar

    Yeah, I remember they kill the deb in the end… That’s why I move using tar.gz, and move away from Ubuntu to fedora… rpms still better and usefull when we need rollback :v

    garam ,
    @garam@lemmy.my.id avatar

    Brave even mention this in the old time how hard for them to fork it… Well… it’s a 25 years old code, even quite older as some even rewritten Firefox from netscape, have same pattern…

    What to do with a beefy server?

    Alright, this may be a bit of a loaded question. But I figured it may provide good insight to both myself and to others. I just came into a pretty beefy server - dual Xeon E5 2699 v3’s (18 cores each), 768 gigs of RAM. Ten front drive bays, 6 of which have 7.68T NVMes and 4 of which have 15.36T SAS drives. I’m thinking the...

    I was recently unable to find a particular journal article I wanted to read that was referenced in something else I was reading. what's everybody's thoughts on Alma and Rocky Linux?

    Tbh I do not know the ins and outs of rhel based distros, so these have caught my interest. I’ve tries live usb of both and I really did like the feel of alma. Rocky I thought felt like every other GNOME system… But I clearly dont really know much about these sort of distros and their capabilities. Are these considered...

    I don’t like how CIQ taking away 30% of Red Hat Customer, that lead to Red Hat doing shit… Rocky shouldn’t done that in first place… and their brand, trademark are transferable to CIQ from RSEF… so I don’t know, I don’t have respect to Greg… after Rocky Fiasco… Red Hat did communicate about CentOS Stream long way before, and they already give signal in 2014/2015, but they burry it… and Greg profit a lot of it from RHEL Engineering, without even contribute much after the money gotten to his pocket… so… Welp call me greg hater, but I hate him so much… with his decision and his press release that make Red Hat always bad…
