Why do these Luxury brands keep on collaboration with these brands?
IMO they are destroying their image.

TheMadnessKing ,

Just FYI, you could also switch to Windows 10 IoT LTSC for longer support (2029 IG)

TheMadnessKing ,

You may be able to mount your NTFS formatted Pen drive via OTG w/o Third party apps.

TheMadnessKing ,

Afaik, You can use export your Google Contacts into Excel/CSV files when using contacts for web.

Edit the csv file and import it back again. You may need to delete existing before importing.

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them? ( gadgettendency.com )

With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be...

TheMadnessKing ,

IMO ppl should be using W10 IoT LTSC. That's the only right way to use W10.

Also, no Linux as Linux still can't run SM Office. /s

TheMadnessKing ,

IMO if they could make the options more easily understood or let users select the way the files needs to be shared.

I have often found that Nearby would be using F* Bluetooth to send files.

TheMadnessKing ,

You may try LibreTube and see if it works for you.

TheMadnessKing ,

Since no one has recommended, I would recommend Notesnook. Open Source app with Encryption. They are also planning to open source the Sync (afaik) part too.

Another option is AnyType.

Another option is Notion (not open Source/encrypted).

TheMadnessKing ,

WhatsApp is also E2E and backup can also be encrypted (Atleast on Android).

I just hope we can Interoperability b/w Signal and WhatsApp.

TheMadnessKing ,

I recommend Smart AudioBook Player. Has loads of features with decent library management

TheMadnessKing ,

High time Google opens up the RCS for other apps on Android.

TheMadnessKing ,

No, they were charging money as they had their own APN to BPN bridge.
Plus the usual cost of development and more.

TheMadnessKing ,

Signal

TheMadnessKing ,

The entire Fiasco is mostly US only.
Rest of the World have different apps that dominate in individual regions like WhatsApp, WeChat, Viber etc.

TheMadnessKing ,

Apple protecting it's precious garden.

TheMadnessKing ,

Yes. I did mention APN (Apple Push Notifications) to Beeper Push Notifications which then routes via FCM for Android.
The whole setup does require active server cost + time to work on the app to bring it to parity with iMessage Features.

TheMadnessKing ,

How is the current state of Plasma 6?
Can I drive it on daily basis under Wayland and test it out?
I dont have nvidia too.

TheMadnessKing ,

Thanks. After going through, I decided to stick with my current setup.

TheMadnessKing ,

I think you meant uBlock Origin?
Also, if you use Firefox on Android, it does support extensions so you can use uBlock Origin too.

TheMadnessKing ,

From 2018, I have been using fake emails for signup on websites that I am sure I wouldn't be using again.

In rare occasion that I do keep using the website, I change it to one of my 'useful' mails. This has kept so much spam at bay for me.

Firefox is giving Android users a sneak peek at its open extensions ( www.androidpolice.com )

• Firefox for Android is reintroducing an open ecosystem of extensions, set to be available on December 14, with a dedicated extension page for easy discovery. • Mozilla has released a preview of the upcoming extensions, including popular ones like Bitwarden’s password manager and AdGuard’s ad blocker. • Firefox aims...

Nice to see FF doing the work and opening doors to so many extensions. The few things I have encountered on FF that are still a major PITA for me:

  • Sometimes tabs gets corrupted in sense that they just wont load any data and show data of the tab that was shown previously. navigating to other domain and stuff wont work. (Encountered it in Private mode)
  • Downloads may sometimes stop in middle.
  • I feel the app consumes more battery

I remember seeing a GitHub Issue regarding this year or two ago. IDK what happened after that since they moved to BugZilla.

If you know the BugZilla Link to the issue, then please do share with me, so that I can subscribe to it. I tried looking for it but maybe I wasn’t framing it right? This type of issue should not even exist at this point tbh.

Found the link: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1812857

What the usual cost of small plex server? (1000 movies + tv shows+anime combined)

Sites for downloading high quality music files

I am making a script that can download high quality music files, currently from free-mp3-download.net and slavart.gamesdrive.net. Are there any others? I could look into torrenting things automatically and maybe looking into Lidarr? Not 100% on how that works but any ideas on what else I could add or links to other places I can...

TheMadnessKing ,

ARLs for FLACs are easily available. So Deemix still works smoothly.

The only issue I have found is that it often doesn't download LRC files.

TheMadnessKing ,

I would recommend Pano Scrobbler for Android. Helpa to Scrobble music toh Last.fm and other services.

TheMadnessKing ,

This is exactly me. Never felt the need of the Google Drive app till now.

TheMadnessKing ,

Honestly, Custom ROMs have been in decline of usage since few years. There are also Other ROMS like Pixel Experience, PixyOS, Havoc, evolutionX, PixelOS, Paranoid, Derpfest, CrDroid and lot more.

The reason for the drop is due to a combination of reasons like better OEM UI, unpublished Kernel code (Chinese OEMs, Mediatek), locked bootloaders and Safetynet issues.

I’m currently rocking CrDroid it has currently ~85K active devices (stats.crdroid.net).

TheMadnessKing , (edited )

I’m talking from a general user perspective who often can’t even differentiate between chipsets let alone look for such details.

People used to got to Custom ROMs because OEMs were really doing shit job, that’s not the case now given now.

TheMadnessKing ,

Xiaomi Does albeit with some wait time.

TheMadnessKing ,

I haven’t encountered such a thing yet (been using for 5 months).

There are lot of methods to bypass those checks even now, and often many ROMs do this by default. (LineageOS doesn’t do that afaik)

It's never been a better time to switch to Firefox ( www.androidpolice.com )

• Firefox offers better privacy and security than Chrome, with upcoming support for 200 new add-ons. • While Chrome dominates, Firefox gains ground with user-friendly browsing experience and open-source model. • Mozilla’s focus on user privacy and transparency challenges Google’s ad-centric approach, making Firefox a...

TheMadnessKing ,

You can also drop ClearURLs filter. Better filters that are more up to date exists exists on uBlock like Adguard URL Tracking Protection and Actually Legitimate URL Shortener Tool.

TheMadnessKing ,

Yes. It’s really a powerful tool that helps to keep the Web tidy and sane.

TheMadnessKing ,

Yup. I like the std. Material You variant, and it covers most of the apps (6 apps missing)

TheMadnessKing ,

Exactly.

I have often found malware apps with all sorts of permission on my relatives phones which suddenly started to lag alot. These folders can be easily exploited by malware apps, so its kinda good.

TheMadnessKing ,

W10 also has Edge bundled as system software.

TheMadnessKing ,

Adobe and MS Office for me are far bigger reasons for me.

TheMadnessKing ,

I have seen people having WhatsApp Backup of upwards of 5-8 GB

TheMadnessKing ,

High time WhatsApp allowed backup to other cloud solutions like Dropbox/OndeDrive/others

Z-Library Blog: "Unprecedented seizure of our domains with books on rare languages" ( z-library.se )

Today we are forced to share some sad news - yesterday many of our domains were seized again. We should highlight that the majority of the seized domains were not mirrors of the Z-Library website. Instead, they were separate sub-projects, containing only books in rare languages of the world, and their blocking is perplexing. For...

TheMadnessKing ,

You can use Annas Archive as alternative. More content.

TheMadnessKing ,

I actually got it 2 weeks ago but after that a new chrome update disabled the new UI.

The new UI does look promising to me

TheMadnessKing ,

Yes. Exactly. They need to make it as butter smooth as possible and MS might struggle a bit here due to so much legacy stuff they support till date.

Ways to pirate music as convenient as Spotify?

The reason I gave up on MP3’s and subscribed to Spotify was because Spotify was easy. I’ve been listening “Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds” song every day and like a week ago, its removed. This was the last straw for me. Right now I’m trying to find “Stremio” of the music world. Can someone assist?...

TheMadnessKing ,

What’s the usual cost for self hosting a server? Also, is there some way I can use Google Drives/OneDrive/Mega as storage solution for these services?

TheMadnessKing ,

I think upstream might be the right word in this context.
