    Kinda embarrassing how few people consider that Leah, though rude, may have ever had any kinda point. Like, apparently this person spent eight hours harassing them on IRC (which is mentioned in this thread, no need to actually go check anything for oneself before demonizing somebody!) but ohhh noooo getting banned from the IRC channel is horrible how could they do that! What a monster!

    Meanwhile, looks to me like everyone involved admits that, despite the libellous thread title, Leah Rowe did not steal this person's work.

    tl;dr: In this thread people skim a rant from one of two sides, call the other a monster. Grr.

    Accused of:
    -Enabling imaginary CSAM involving no children to "flourish" (?) in their virtual houses
    -Ignoring that someone considers their virtual play only involving adults to be disgusting
    -Creating a deeply toxic working environment within a company

    One of these things is most definitely a problem if true!

    Also not quite convinced the full article doesn't have other problems. It has a smell.

    @RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

    Okay, this article thing is like three million pages long; is there actually any child abuse content being thrown at people? Is there any way to see this stuff without being into it? I don't understand how this is suddenly a problem now if it's like, you're walking around your virtual neighbourhood and BAM, CSAM in your face! Kinda seems like somebody would've noticed before now so I'm wondering if there's some clarification I missed by not reading past the first couple of pages.

    Yaaaah, came here to something something RISC-V ^.^ One of these days I'll have a RISC-V system. I'll have no actual use for it but I'll love it stubbornly just because :D

    Anyway I'm gonna be over here daydreaming about RISC-V taking over the world instead of ARM. Bwehehehehe.

    If you're having this much fun digging into distros, I have to recommend* Gentoo and Funtoo :3 I think you could have some fun with those too hehehehehehehehe

    *(re-commend, not recco-mend! ... Now I wonder if "recommend" at some point commonly/ever sounded like "Riikka mend" 🤔)

    RiikkaTheIcePrincess ,
    @RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

    I'd say Gentoo is kinda... grittier? It's less eager to help you out and be nice. Where Arch is like "Oh, you want Foo? Okay, here's Foo, along with Bar and Baz to go with it" Gentoo is like "'Kay, building Foo." Then you wonder why Foo doesn't do Baz-y things and how it's any good to anycritter without Bar, and it turns out those are compile-time options and you didn't set the USE flags to include them for Foo so it wasn't built with them. Your system never downloaded, built, or installed them at all because you didn't tell it to. It pretty well expects you to know what you want and what you need to do it >:3 ... that, and have a nice beefy CPU 😅 I tend to alternate between Arch and Gentoo every few years. Am currently using Arch (bytheway ;P) after switching from Gentoo for some comfy convenience but I kinda love both.

    Funtoo is... I don't entirely remember what it was meant to be, compared to Gentoo 😅 I vaguely recall it was supposed to have some nice features but wanted me to do sensible things like stop using ancient GRUB so I just didn't get into it. May try that next.

    As for BSDs, I've kinda wanted to run a BSD for a long time but none of them are what I actually want (despite my nonsensical eagerness to be and do weird wherever possible- er, I mean, despite how good and stable and cool they are!) so I just kinda poke one or two every few years, accomplish nothing, then give up. I do want to like them, though 😅

    I need better hardware just so I can properly (for me) enjoy KSP v.v By which I mean like, RSS/RO though I prefer fictiony star systems (Ciro system <3 !!) :3 ^.^ Such a cool, fun thing, especially with lots of mods :3

    RiikkaTheIcePrincess ,
    @RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

    Ooo, I played the Sea of Stars demo! That game looks pretty neat :3 I think it felt like it had way more to it, a sort of deeper love and care for the game than I'd expected. Good mention ^.^

    Good luck with MELE! Am kinda curious what's failing? Software/hardware/difficulty?

    RiikkaTheIcePrincess ,
    @RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

    I've just started another playthrough of Mass Effect: Andromeda! Took ages to get the mod manager and EA's app thing and Linux/Wine/??? all cooperating (or at least not fighting me effectively enough that I can't play the game :P ) but off I've gone!

    Hmmmm, what else lately. Battlefield V, apparently. Bit of PlanetSide 2. Started SIC-1 (the single instruction set computer programming game) but haven't really been in a mood for it. Tried Stellaris again to see if Swayland changed the microstutters. It did not. Game looks horrifically complex now too, so meh. Tried again to find a new build that interested me in Path of Exile but no :-\ Uhhhhmmmm, touched Endless Space 2 a little, played some Helium Rain (which is free now! Very neat little space freelancer-to-empire kinda thing, like an itty bitty baby version of an X game). Almost went back to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous which I love but an out-of-game sad and increasing memory-distance from my playthrough are making it harder to go back.

    Oh, also logging into STO for the winter event and complaining about the Winter Wonderland. You'd think that being an ice princess I'd love the winter event but it's awful. You know a winter event is bad when I strongly prefer the summer event! Totally backward, makes no sense! Rar rar rar, et cetera!

    Anyway, this has been my latelish-gamesy ramble. I hope somecritter has enjoyed or at least I won't get downvoted into Oblivion. Though at least if I do I can maybe meet some cool Daedra :3 (This post is being written directly after "waking up" (assuming I have, in fact, done so) and as such the thoughts represented within may or may not be my own, rational, intelligible, or representative of any official royal policy or belief)

    Oh yeah, lots of them! So way back in ancient times we had... https://outer-planets.fandom.com/wiki/Planet_Packs 😅 The Ciro system is the one from the Galileo Planet Pack https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/topic/152136-ksp-1121-galileos-planet-pack-v166-23-sept-2021/ Aaand I loved it. There was a way to scale it up to RSS scale, which kinda trashed my system but I still tried to play it 😅

    Smaller and simpler is definitely fun but I've got the bug where I always feel like I'm missing something if there aren't as many mods as possible installed 😹 I assume there are still system replacers available now... but suddenly it occurs to me that maybe that's stopped being a thing? Hard to imagine KSP losing an entire category of mods but I feel compelled to point out that I don't actually know these state of it these days :-\

    Protondb is a hugely useful site (okay, maybe not that huge but it's great)! There's WineHQ for Wine but it's kinda... a little creaky, if you know what I mean. Doesn't seem to get much attention.

    Protondb, on the other paw, has lots of useful info from a quick-and-simple "how likely is it to work?" indicator to "Here's what I had to do to make it flawless" reports from users. VERY useful! wiggles emphatically! (also it splits reports between PC and Deck)

    Oh, also GloriousEggroll's Proton fork is kinda great, for critters who like to faff about with stuff as I do: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom Dunno if that's of any use on Deck though.

    I'm glad she got out of that hellhole and is presumably getting help but I'd be gladder if we could not have so much evil seemingly everywhere, just looking to hurt people for fun or profit.

    ... Seriously this shit's disgusting. You'd think even a minimally sentient species would grow out of this crap but no, here I am (in current year, no less!) making weird obscure references to keep myself from being ill from reading news again.

    Isn't that what sca- uhh, I mean super legit game devs normally do? Suddenly the scope was neeeever that big! You just think you remember all' those claims that are still visible! No one actually said things you can prove they did!

    I feel like this has happened numerous times already and somehow it surprises people every time. Like, there are channels on YouTube that only cover this sort of thing and have days of content.

    RiikkaTheIcePrincess ,
    @RiikkaTheIcePrincess@pawb.social avatar

    Uch, corpo jargon @.@ What does it even mean? Even Google can't translate it!

    Wow, has it been that long since I last flew? We didn't even have the hole, let alone the tail gunners. Once we'd hit an aircow or two we'd have swarms of them coming at us constantly, biting at the tail of the plane. Meanwhile the first set of pilots are being replaced because the lack of cow catcher just let them right in through the front windshield. Truly a terrible experience, 7/10 would fly again but only on sale.
