The tech debt is just glaring at this point. They need an actual new engine instead of yet another gamebryo rework.

I doubt it would be realistic, they just kind of take an average of their training data and blend it together to my knowledge.

I’m just glad there’s a big event that can act as a surrogate to what E3 once was.

Awarded to a game for outstanding development of ongoing content that evolves the player experience over time.

Its best ongoing game, not best live service game. I think things like Stardew Valley or No Man’s Sky fit into this just like Cyberpunk did because devs should be praised for when they go above and beyond. I’d argue CDPR owed that to their fans but still, they mostly pulled it off.

NOT_RICK ,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Cyberpunk? Think that’s right but I’d argue that would put them out of the running of this category in 2024 rather than this year’s.

NOT_RICK ,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

That’s a reasonable take. I think the win speaks to how much of a marketing even this show is.

NOT_RICK ,

I’d hope that would lead to FTC action, but that’s only if the republicans don’t win the presidency next year.

Some of their headlines can be shitty, but I find that most of their articles are great once you dive into them. Except for their Wired cross publication stories, those mostly suck.

Eric Berger’s space articles are fantastic. Well minus a recent article of his where he hand waved away Elon being a shitheel. On a technical level they’re great.

Under Phil I think they’d be allowed a level of creative freedom but I can’t blame them for wanting to leave under Mattrick; he would have kept them on the Halo hamster wheel forever.

NOT_RICK ,

Their fate is even sadder in my view, they’re now the live service aid studio. Hopefully Jim Ryan’s replacement can fix that because churning out live service games sounds like a horrible idea

I loved Halo and thought Destiny was meh, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20

To be fair, Google’s messaging plans and implementations have been all over the place for a decade. Apple still should have been more proactive. They promised iMessage would come to Android until they realized how much of a moat it became for their business.

They’re doing the GSMA standard and nothing else. I think they refuse to play ball with any standard Google controls either directly or indirectly.

Elon is free to say or agree with whatever wild point of view he chooses and advertisers are free to decide they don’t want their brand associated with that kind of take. That isn’t a free speech issue, it’s the free market that Elon pretends to love in action.

He doesn’t want free speech, he wants consequence free speech which has never been a thing.

You can buy 100% of the games on gamepass. I fully expected gamepass to get more expensive over time but I’ll be surprised if Microsoft removes the ability to buy games. They seem perfectly happy to take your money however you’re willing to give it. I see their re-listing of games on steam as a sign they aren’t interested in killing game purchasing. Fully admit I could be wrong though.

How is the piracy experience on an iPad ?

So I am planning on buying an ipad, never owned one before. I have always been an android guy and from what I have heard Ipad os or ios is pretty restrictive in nature so I was wondering how much does it hamper the piracy experience. For example on android I can torrent files of any nature or size without any restrictions and...

NOT_RICK ,
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

It’s possible, just more annoying to pirate on iPad. I mainly use a vpn+ movie web with decent results, my main gripe is if I cast from my iPad to my tv movie web doesn’t bring the subtitles over, they keep playing on my iPad instead.

I’m not sure if Stremio+torrentio work. If you have the luxury of having access to a media server there’s some good options to access that content from iPads.

As for torrenting, currently there are no torrent apps allowed on the App Store. You can use a service like Seedr to download the torrent for you which you can then direct download. Again, possible, just more annoying than it should be for a personal computing device. I’m hopeful that this will change with Apple seemingly being forced to allow third party app stores. Time (and the EU) will tell
