Origin of Life

In Origin of Life: What Everyone Needs to Know®, David W. Deamer has written a comprehensive guide to the origin of life that is organized in three sections. The first section addresses questions such as: Where do the atoms of life come from? How old is Earth? What was the Earth like before life began? Where does water come from? After each question is answered, there is a follow-up: How do we know?

Do you judge a book by its cover? I'm thinking of changing the cover of our already-published book!!! 😮
Tell me which cover you would click on: the new one in sunny yellow or the existing cover in sandy beige?
The yellow reflects @TeresaHeartchild's love of life -- and the urgency of getting her freed. It should attract the eye for Amazon clicks.
But the beige may be some book-lover's sophisticated fave. 🤔 What do you think? @bookstodon @bookgaga

Franke James' book cover in sandy beige for "Freeing Teresa: A True Story about Fighting Ableism." The book is sitting on a striped, multi-hued couch.

Yellow is infinitely more attractive and easy to read too, IMHO

Some new books/authors!

A friend just recommended The Sentence today when we were comparing notes on "Covid novels".

I got it from Libby (the audio anyway) this evening.

A book about a bookshop that takes about the books and their authors ... Hmm

I do not like audio books.
My focus leaves & before long, I realize I have no idea what’s going on. Also, I don’t find listening to a book near as enjoyable as reading it, something gets lost in the process.

All that to say, I’ve been listening to this one. Granted, it’s taken me 2 times of checking it out at the library. These are all true stories that cover many subjects & the endings all make you think, which I love. I highly recommend.

Even if you hate audio books 😉

I used to hate audiobooks and then I had cataract surgery and it got harder to read for a while.

Not all audiobooks are created equal of course and almost always I'd rather read but I don't hate them anymore.

Elon lied about the monkeys — and he shouldn't be trusted to put his Neuralink chips in human brains.

"They are claiming they are going to put a safe device on the market, and that's why you should invest," Ryan Merkley at the Physicians Committee, told Wired. "And we see his lie as a way to whitewash what happened in these exploratory studies."

Really heartbreaking reading what happened to the monkeys.

People quite rightly think of Elizabeth Holmes as a fraud for making false medical claims about what the Theranos machines could do. So why aren't Elon's claims at Neuralink being held to the same level of scrutiny?

Didn't we already go through this with Whatsername and her fake blood tests?
