I would just use kdenlive personally since the UI is very straightforward. I think almost every distro has kdenlive, and if it isn't on the package manager of the distro you can install it as a flatpak as well.

Maybe try distros that have more recent updates, might feel less clunky, like nobara, fedora, openSuse (the semi-rolling release version), garuda and PopOs.

Stract: Independent and Open Search (stract.com)

Stract is an open source search engine where the user has the ability to see exactly what is going on and customize almost everything about their search results. It's a search engine made for hackers and tinkerers just like ourselves. No more searches where some of the terms in the query arent used, and the engine tries to guess...

Really awesome project. I like their ambition to compete with google (brave search is independent also but bad track record apparently)

The data lost that occurred due to the lack of differentiation between year 1900 and 2000 on calendar systems of the older computers?

I tried to upload a bigger image but Lemmy wasn't allowing me to do so with 'file too big' error. I like Yambar cause its easier to customize it with custom scripts (like having a script to show how many packages to update) and also the feel of it is different and interesting to use.

Edit: I now have added a link for a higher res version of the image in the description 🤙

BlanK0 ,

Linux mint, if there is any problem try popOS.

Also would recommend trying out the distros before you install them in a virtual machine since it's easier to try multiple distros without the hassle of setting them up. Since you are in windows at the moment, you probably should try virtualbox

Edit: ventoy is a pretty cool project for when you want to setup a pen with the installation isos to the baremetal.

BlanK0 ,

Really like it, i just would make the bottom bar more retro and if you could do the same for the top one even better. I do like the purple, it gives more synthwave vibes

Pipepipe is an amazing newpipe fork(which is a youtube client) that constantly recieves updates and is stable and relaible.I didn't see much love for this app anywhere so thought i should promote it.

I definetly recommend it. It also has many more settings , features than newpipe . It is in the main repo . Just search pipepipe .

BlanK0 ,

Thx for the recommendation, this seems to be pretty great, specially to access other services like bilibili and niconico without spyware alongside youtube 🤙

BlanK0 ,

Thx for the effort 🙏, the repo looks very interesting gonna have a look later

Signal really is that better replacement for WhatsApp since the functionality is identical, others would have to force people to get used to the different ui and the options.

BlanK0 ,

Very good video, the content and the editing are superb 👌💯

BlanK0 ,

Like the nature theme of the setup, nice artix rice 👍

BlanK0 OP ,

Yup, WM with animations. It's quite popular nowadays

I don't think it is a hyprland issue, I also have that conflict problem and I don't use hyprland at the moment

BlanK0 OP , (edited )

I solved the problem in my machine, in case you need to know, all I did was on tty remove wlroots and reinstall it. it should solve the problem

BlanK0 ,

Awesome project! Makes everything much more accessible to use 👌💯

BlanK0 OP ,

😂, I guess for big corps it's like cents

BlanK0 OP ,

I have found this article that might be useful

BlanK0 ,

I would suggest trying other distros like some people here mention like popOS, nobara, garuda, open suse (try the semi-rolling release one), fedora, endeavourOS, etc.

This might give you a better experience out of the box without too much tinkering, since sometimes compatibilities with the hardware and with some software can occur (for example I tried to do a garuda install in the past and it didn't work for me but to a lot of people it worked).

Also when you get more experienced with linux, you probably can fix those issues more easily, but for now probably the best option is to try a different distro and see how it goes.

BlanK0 ,

All those features + vim mode, damn can't wait 🤤

BlanK0 ,

I think you might like the nvchad project it has some features that make you not rely 100% on keystrokes for everything, also a integrated cheatsheet just in case

BlanK0 OP ,

Not sure 🤔, I have been using a lot ranger lately

BlanK0 OP ,

Use ublock origin, it will change your life

BlanK0 OP ,

Although it doesn't have as many features out of the box, you have to setup some stuff.

BlanK0 OP ,

I would suggest using Firefox on mobile, you can add the ublock extension there as well

BlanK0 ,

Latin is very interesting, gives you the ability to read the original untranslated works of famous Roman historical figures and also helps you with nomenclature in science ( like for biology, medicine, etc)

BlanK0 OP ,

Its just a way to setup the daemons to start every time you boot, I don't think there is really a maintenance of sorts is just replacing systemctl with sv.

Edit: Works well, I don't think you should worry about it, probably there is a deeper explanation on the void linux docs

BlanK0 OP ,

Exactly this 👌
